Gold Coast jumped to fifth on the competition ladder with a gutsy 16-14 win over Wests Tigers in their round 14 NRL match-up at Campbelltown this afternoon.
After doubts about the depth of the squad going into the second half of the season, the NRL's newest franchise look as though they will be a legitimate threat towards the back end after a strong away victory against the fourth-placed Tigers.
The Tigers led 8-4 at half-time and would have been favourites to notch their eighth win in nine matches playing in front of a boisterous home crowd.
But the Titans had other ideas, moving ahead 10-8 in the 49th minute after Josh Lewis crossed for the visitors and Mat Rogers slotted the conversion.
The Tigers levelled the scores through a Dean Collis penalty goal with a quarter of the match remaining, but again fell behind when Rogers scored and converted his try with 10 minutes remaining.
Taniela Tuiaki brought the home crowd to its feet when he touched down with eight minutes left on the clock, but Collis could not land the conversion that would have put scores at 16-16.
