White, carefully stepping his way through a media minefield, expressed his bitter disappointment at the way in which his position was handled by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) hierarchy.
White made himself out to be the victim in yet another bitter public spat between a Springbok coach and the national body, with SARU as the villain of the piece, but it has emerged that White indicated before the World Cup that he would not continue as head coach beyond his current contract.
While White was at pains to depict SARU and its President's Council as the bad guys, he twice let it slip that there was no guarantee that he would have carried on even if he was first choice as Bok coach.
