New Wales cap Spratt hails New Zealand experience
JONATHAN Spratt reckons his successful six-month spell in New Zealand developed him into a Wales Test player.
Spratt made his Wales debut as a second-half replacement in the opening North American tour victory over Canada last weekend.
And the Ospreys centre believes his time starring in the Air New Zealand Cup with provincial side Taranaki has provided the springboard to further international honours as he prepares for Saturday's Test with the USA.
Spratt, 23, said: "I had a brilliant six months in New Zealand and it has helped my game no end.
"It was great to get out of the goldfish bowl of Wales and when I was given the opportunity I knew I had to grab it with both hands when (Ospreys elite performance director) Andrew Hore managed to facilitate the move for me."
