Waratahs and Wallaby stalwart Phil Waugh says that he wants to finish playing his rugby in Australia but with the emergence of some new stars in Australian rugby he may be forced to end his career overseas.
So dedicated to Waratahs rugby is Waugh that he he led them last year to the final with a broken rib that he had been nursing all season but he fears that he could have to leave Australia for Europe at the end of this year if his contract is not renewed.
Waugh comes off contract with NSW and the Australian Rugby Union in 2010, Waugh has outlined a desire to finish his career with the Waratahs by earning a new long-term deal this Super 14 season.
The decision however rests with Wallabies coach Robbie Deans and ARU high performance manager David Nucifora and with players such as Western Force flanker David Pocock on the Wallabies' spring tour and the on-going battle with George Smith for honours as openside flanker, Waugh risks being squeezed out.
