Blackadder confirmed as Crusaders coach
Former All Blacks captain Todd Blackadder was confirmed on Wednesday to take over as coach of reigning Super 14 champions the Canterbury Crusaders, following the departure of Robbie Deans to the Wallabies.
Blackadder, who has been coaching provincial team Tasman since last year, said he was delighted to be returning to the Crusaders which he joined as captain in 1996, the team's first year.
The 36-year-old led the Crusaders to three Super rugby titles until leaving in 2001, and played 12 Tests for the All Blacks, including 10 as captain.
"I have a passionate desire to keep the Crusaders at the pinnacle of world rugby, to build on the legacy of the past, and to freshen, stimulate and lead the organisation into the future," Blackadder said in a statement.
