Pat Lam to coach the Auckland Blues
Former New Zealand and Samoa rugby representative Pat Lam will coach the Auckland Blues Super 14 team for the next three years, the New Zealand Rugby Union said Thursday.
Lam, 39, was formerly coach of the Auckland team in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship.
"I am very proud of the achievements of the Auckland provincial team and have relished my role as coach for the last four years," Lam said.
"However, I have aspired to coach a team in the Super 14, ideally the Blues. That opportunity has arrived and I am delighted."
Lam replaces Australian David Nucifora who stepped down at the end of the 2008 Super 14 season.
