Steve Meehan stays in Bath
The Australian head coach of Bath Rugby Steve Meehan has extended his contract with 2007 European Challenge Cup finalists for two more years.
Meehan began his coaching career in Queensland in 1999 and moved to Paris in 2002 to work with the two time Heineken Cup finalists Stade Francais as assistant coach to Nick Mallett and later Fabien Galthié. During his French “sejour”, Stade won two French championships (2003 and 2004) and reached the 2005 Heineken Cup in Murrayfield, only to loose to arch rivals Toulouse.
The Australian joined Bath in July 2006 and in his first season as Head Coach lead the English side to a European Challenge Cup final against ASM Clermont Auvergne where they lost out in a thrilling encounter.
Bath currently lie top of Pool 1 with 18 points and will play Parma away this weekend on Friday, 12 January 2008 at 3.00 pm (local time). The famous English club have won all their Pool games and look likely qualify for the quarter finals.
