IT WAS not so long ago that Mike Blair was considered a fresh-faced baby of Scottish rugby, but there was an unmistakable maturity in his reflections on another weekend of near misses in Europe for Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The scrum-half, who is being made to feel older than his 26 years by the presence of his burgeoning younger brother, David, pulling the strings alongside him as Edinburgh stand-off, has become one of the senior group at Edinburgh since the departure of a handful of his fellow internationalists. He admitted he felt anger and frustration more than any other emotion after his side pulled to within a point of Toulouse with 15 minutes remaining on Saturday, but lost 19-15.
