Roff to captain Oxford
Former Wallaby winger Joe Roff will captain Oxford University in their annual rugby union match against Cambridge University at Twickenham on December 6.
Roff, who played in three World Cups and won 86 caps, is on a two-year course for a degree in philosophy, politics and economics.
He made his debut in the fixture last year when 'Light Blues' Cambridge won 15-6.
Oxford, England's oldest university, will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat in the match which so far spans 125 fixtures dating back to 1872.
Many future internationals, such as Wales legend Gerald Davies and Scotland great Gavin Hastings (both Cambridge), New Zealand's David Kirk and England's Stuart Barnes (both Oxford) have appeared in the fixture.
But it is rare for someone to have played so much international rugby as the 32-year-old Roff, who scored 30 Test tries in his Wallaby career, before making their first appearance in the Varsity match.
Roff, on the losing side when Jonny Wilkinson's last-ditch drop-goal secured England's extra-time victory in the 2003 World Cup final in Sydney, said after last year's match against Cambridge: "It's one of the most special games I've ever played in.
"Unfortunately, it's one of the most disappointing as well."
Cambridge lead the series 59-52 with 14 draws.
