Chiefs Foster enters All Blacks race
Chiefs rugby coach Ian Foster on Sunday announced his application for the All Blacks coaching job.
A Waikato Rugby Union media release confirmed Foster had put himself in contention.
Applications for the job that has belonged to Graham Henry for the last four years close at close of business on Monday.
Crusaders coach Robbie Deans, regarded as the favourite to win the role, last month stated his desire to enter the race.
The Dominion Post newspaper this week reported that Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper had also applied.
Neither Foster nor Cooper are likely to be considered ahead of Deans but, by applying, could improve their chance of being appointed assistant coaches.
There was still no indication on Sunday from Henry whether he will reapply, nor from his assistant Steve Hansen.
The pair, and assistant Wayne Smith, have a successful winning record but were in charge of New Zealand's worst World Cup campaign last month, losing to France in the quarter-finals.
