Horgan will not be available until England's visit to Croke Park on February 24 at the earliest, the third match of Ireland's campaign.
"In addition to this, there are fifteen players unable to train today due to minor injuries or having played yesterday," the Irish Rugby Football Union [IRFU] said in a statement.
Coach Eddie O'Sullivan cancelled a planned training session on Monday to allow his squad an extra day of recovery.
"The squad have picked up a couple of knocks at the weekend," said O'Sullivan.
"It was in the best interests of the players to prioritise rehab and recovery today to allow us to hit the ground running tomorrow."
O'Sullivan has called up Connacht full-back Danny Riordan, Leinster's versatile back Kieran Lewis and Northampton centre David Quinlan to cover for the injured trio.
Experienced lock Malcolm O'Kelly is still being assessed by doctors after suffering a recurrence of a previous knee injury during Leinster's defeat at Gloucester on Friday.

not good on the Shane Horgan front
however Rob Kearney and John Kelly are no-where near the actual Irish side and will be no loss at all
Tommy Bowe can step in as he is the Irish winger in form and he has the same style of game as Horgan and will hopefully be able to finish in the way Horgan has in the last while

As the 6 nations drawas closer it seems like theres an extra player to add to the ever growing injury list every day.Not just a wales problem but this is the price of pro rugby and the demands it puts on the top players with HC duties as well.We have already lost shane williams and lee byrne, add to that sonny parker and shanklin is a doubt now.
I dont think any of the home nations will get a first choice team out again in the 6 nations.
Still its not as depleted as last seasons campaign

As an Argentine (and Austrian as well) I am extremely proud of what our Pumas had done in France up to now. In spite of all predictions, they had beaten France in their own field of Parc des Princes, and all the other teams which they had played since the start of the World Cup, including Ireland, team that lots of Argentines with Irish ancestry admires, but obviously first and foremost is right or wrong our team “Los Pumas”. They are showing to their fellow countrymen, that with humbleness, attitude, strength, unity and not a bit of arrogance, like the one of the French coach, or some of the Wallabies, you can reach victory without loosing your steadiness. They deserve the respect of all our country, not only Pichot, Contempomi, Hernandez; but everybody in the team. If they win the world cup, would be the natural reward for all their efforts as a team. I yearn now for a complete victory of our Pumas over Scotland (I do have Scottish blood) this Sunday, God bless our boys, they are real heroes, and extremely humble guys, an example to be followed by our rulers and citizens as well. Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Farrell (Irish surname) I wish you a victory over the Aussies as well, they are out of mind, I want to watch a wonderful match between our Pumas vs. England, perhaps we shall watch it soon, after our team beats Scotland next Sunday, cheers
