Default Rugby: Eddie Jones faces ban for verbal assault on referee

Reds coach Eddie Jones could be banned from Saturday's game against the Blues after becoming the first coach to be cited in Super rugby history.
Tournament officials cited Jones to appear at a judicial hearing tonight in Brisbane to answer a charge of breaching the game's code of conduct in his scathing attack on referee Matt Goddard at the weekend.
Jones faces a fine of up to $10,000, suspension or a warning for his comments that Goddard's decisions against the Reds scrum were "ludicrous" and "disgraceful" in their match with the Brumbies.
Sanzar and ARU chief executive Gary Flowers said officials cited Jones over his comments on radio and in the post-game media conference.
"There was a clear message issued to all teams, coaches and administrators before the start of this Super 14 season that there would be zero tolerance of public criticism of referees and officials," Flowers said.
"Statistics out today [show] fewer average penalties, scrum resets and free kicks per game in this year's Super 14 than in the previous two years, so complaints referees are penalising teams out of the game don't stand up."

This is going to far, I mean you should be allowed to express your opinion to a referree but sometimes it is going too far

I for one was sent to the stands during my game on Saturday for expressing my opinion to the referee. he came over to me and said his piece I said mine and he asked me to leave the sideline so I did, then he awarded a scrum to the opposition, ha more fool to win, we won the scrum against the head chipped the ball through and scored the game winning try

Brilliant coaching by me I think

The fine is astronomical though, i mean $10,000 but If they have a zero tolerance rule then they have xero tolerance and Jones for what he said needs to be punished

To sum up I say well doen Super Rugby, more control needs to be exerted on the world game before we become like football, which to be honest is a complete joke with fans and officials and players getting away with murder, and having minimal fines as a deterrant
