Default Question about Rules

Hey guys this is my first time to this forum. I am currently in my 3rd year of highschool and have been playing rugby for 3 years now. The rules seem to change from year to year and as one moves in in class. My question is, in a scrum how far back are you allowed to push the opposing team? Also what is the rules for lifting in teh line-out is the liftee supposed to jump, and is he supposed to be lifted by the shorts or the knees. I play for my school team so if anyone has information to the school rules that would be greatly appreciated.

You can push the opponent as far back as you want in a scrum. And for the line-outs, when you watch rugby on TV, have you seen second rows with things that look like pads on their thighs? Well those are to help with lifting,so thats where you lift.

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I thought for the srum, but for some reason the ref wont let it move more than 1.5 meters back. My team is very large and powerful in the scrum so we usually dominate that but with this "rule our ref has implimented" its hard to dominate that.

As for the line-outs I am the front man and some refs yell at me for getting lifted by the knees because they says its too dangerous and others compliment me on how well i do by the knees. I guess it just depends on the ref and I have to accept that.
