Harlequins coach Brian McDermott questioned the commitment and desire of his players and suggested he is considering his own position after his side threw away a handsome lead for the second week in a row.
The Londoners led 16-6 against second-placed Catalans Dragons in the opening match of the second day of Millennium Magic in Cardiff but conceded two converted tries in the last nine minutes to go down 18-16.
Their late collapse came a week after they squandered a 20-6 interval lead against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and a third successive defeat leaves Quins in the bottom half of the engage Super League table.
McDermott, who is in his second full season as head coach of Harlequins, revealed in the post-match press conference that he is starting to question the motives of his players.
“I’m asking some questions about whether the whole bit of being in London works,” he said.
“I’m asking about the travel and the fact that they’re all living away from home. I’m asking some questions and I don’t know the answers.
“I’m asking everybody, me included. I’m starting to ask questions on whether the boys are enjoying living in London too much or they’re enjoying rugby league first and foremost.”
