Munster after Rugby League star
Heineken Cup holders Munster are said to be one of several rugby union sides after former Wigan and Great Britain Rugby League star Brian Carney.
Carney is set to resume his playing career after being released from his two-year contract with new Australian club Gold Coast Titans.
The 30-year-old former Hull and Wigan favourite announced his retirement earlier this year after just one training session with the Titans, saying he was homesick and no longer had any desire to play the game.
The Gold Coast club kept his registration but managing director Michael Searle said they had agreed to release him subject to compensation and revealed that up to five clubs - in both rugby union and rugby league - are chasing his signature.
Carney, who left Wigan at the end of 2005 to have a season with Newcastle Knights, has been working in the English media since returning from Australia.
