Rugby Help
Hi, I'm new to Rugby and this forum. I would like to know when Rugby season starts and ends. I would like to know when Rugby airs on TV in America and what networks in America air them. Thanks

Welcome to the sport and forum Kev, they're both great even though the latter is just taking off.
Here is a link with that lists all the upcoming tours and tourneys, and if you click 'fixtures' they tell you what is happening in the next week.

About watching in America, the frustration I share too, you can only see it on Setanta sports, which depends on where you live whether or not your cable provider carries it, but directv and other dish companies certainly do.

Thanks. My friend goes to Dublin every year and one year he came back with a rugby ball and got all of our friends hooked. Theres a local sports network here but like I said, its local so theres only a couple teams and can get boring to watch. Rugby just doesn't seem to be big here. American foot ball( NFL ) seems to be on top and really its not a bad sport like Europeans think. Sometimes I watch hockey but another sport that seems big around this time if the year is soccer or European football. I never remember soccer being so big but I think its getting bigger here because of all the Hispanics living in America.

Welcome Kev. I think you need to just give Americans a bit of time. Rugby is a much bigger sport than American football, that is if you take how many countries are competing in it.
I don't think Europeans really have a problem with American Football. I just think that rugby is simply more favoured.

So Dublin spawned you're Rugby interests!? That's great. As for NFL, I quite like it, but don't watch regularly, and its pretty popular here in Europe!

I never knew it was aired over there. Does Europe actually have teams and play it there? What about hockey, is that big over there? The hockey team where I from does have a few people with accents. A few of them seem to be Scottish,Irish, and English. Are there some other sports over there that havn't made it to America yet?

Yeah I think there's a few teams in Europe but I'm not very sure, Soccer, Rugby and other sports are way too popular. As for other sports, there's quite a few actually that are big in individual countries. For example in Sweden, Norway, Finland & Denmark the sport called bandy is huge. Over here Gaelic Games are MASSIVE, ie Hurling and Gaelic Football. There's even a few teams in the states.

Ok thanks I'll have to check that out. We do have hurling in the state I live in but I don't think its played everywhere in America. We do having something very close to that, its called Lacrosse. I'm not sure if its played overseas or not. Bandy I just looked up and we have the same thing here but its called hockey. We have curling too which I guess it is what hockey or bandy came from. I heard it started in either Ireland or Scotland. Someday I hope to go to Europe. The first thing I want to experinece theres is Rugby. I'm mostly German and Danish but also a little bit of Irish. I think it would be easier for me to communicate with people in Ireland then in Germany or Denmark. Plus, my friend says Dublin is a really nice place to be. Is Dublin an expensive place? And what does "credits" mean under our user names? Sorry for getting off topic.

Hey Kev I can answer the part about credits, and save the Dublin questions for Leinster. There's a link up towards the top right of the forum where you can click "vbookie" and it takes you here:
http://www.rugbyforums.com/vbookie.php
You take the credits if you wish and bet them on any open events. None are up right now, but will be by the weekend. I was betting on Ulster and Leinster last weekend in there. You can also put the credits into savings by clicking the 'banking' link.
