Default Ford & Wells to Resign from England Rugby

Hi all

I am asking all fans of English Rugby to sign my petition for the removal of Wells & Ford from the coaching line up for England Rugby.

The two of them have been a disaster for our game. They were second rate players and now they have proved themselves as second rate coaches. What they are trying train our players is old style defensive rugby. I appreciate that is the modern game, but we have no attack, we run into players rather than space and when we do create space we kick the ball away. These two have been the constant since the end of the Woodward era. The rfu including Andrew and Johnson have blinkers on. Please go to the petition below and sign up. It is about time the fans stood up and made their point. I read continually how we are fed up with the England performance, yet no one is doing anything about it. We are the ones paying extortiate prices to see dismal uninspiring rugby. Andrew says we have made progress, what games has he been watching! Not the ones I have watched since 2003, that is for sure.

SO A CALL TO ARMS TO ALL YOU FANS OF RUGBY. SIGN NOW

I can just imagine how you guys must be feeling right now. Just a question (don't know if you will return to the forum though), do you think the coaches are the only ones to blame here?

With SA rugby I learned not to blame the coaches alone. I will admit that SA rugby has a lot more politics involved than most other rugby nations, which makes blaming on coaches alone a bit unfair.

England don't have a quota system, do they?

I agree with you to a point. The players are the ones on the field, however for them to work together as a single unit especially in attack, you require a solid, knowledgeable coaching staff, that is what is missing since 2003, I cannot believe it has been solely the players for 6 years. I also fear that our guys are being coached for coaching sake therefore not allowing for individual flair. I truly believe that the players have little or no respect for the management, with the exception of Johnno, but he is showing signs of management immaturity. How? by keeping Borthwick as captain. I also agree that we have players out on the field with no rugby brain at all, who cannot read a game. We got to WC 2007 final more by luck than judgement, the pool game against you guys was the true reflection of the state of English Rugby. Ashton was the right guy, but the wrong guys behind him.

I agree with you about not blaming it on the players for 6 years. I didn't know that this problem started prior to 2007 already. If the players have little to no respect for the coaching staff, there is no point in keeping them there. I believe in a team sport like rugby mutual respect and good communication between the players and the coaching staff forms the corner stones of a good team. If that respect is not there, you lose all necessary motivation to make a success of your career.

I always wonder why they don't let rugby supporters do the selection for coaches. Of course in our case, they compile a short list of possible candidates and then they decide who will get it. Rugby supporters are never granted the opportunity to participate in the whole process.

Also, rugby all over the world thrives because of their supporters. I think it is only fair if they give supporters more say. Rugby tickets purchased by an x amount of supporters is what pays their salaries in the end... It only makes sense that way.
