Default What you've learned from rugby

I'm interested in finding out how rugby has helped you develop as a person, how what you've learned in rugby has affected other areas of your life, either as a conscious use of an idea, or a general change in how you approach a situation.

Thanks.

Well I can say that the most I learned, from playing anyway, was being a team player, comraderie, and learning to operate as part of a unit, not as an individual. Rugby is such a physical game, and when you know that if you're about to go into contact, and the man on your shoulder will have your back, its a good feeling, and something that not everyone has.

As I mentioned in my introductory post, I'm a latecomer to the sport and I would agree that the strongest point of rugby is the camaraderie and sense of teamwork. In the past two years I have made many strong friendships through rugby and having been a person playing individual sports, I'm enjoying working with others on the field. Playing the sport has also given me a better idea of its patterns, intricacies and subtleties. Before I played I tried to familiarise myself with the laws, but actually playing takes that appreciation to a new level.

Speaking of learning from rugby, keep your eyes out for the new series of School of hard knocks, a radically challenging rugby development scheme filmed by sky sports that begins its six week series on March 2nd, 10pm, Sky Sports 1. The ‘School of Hard Knocks’ is a programme that uses the game of Rugby Union to teach participants important values and lessons that will enable them to take positive and definite steps towards employment. It also powerfully addresses issues of health, crime and citizenship.go to .: Rugby Performance :. for more details, or alternatively join us on facebook at Login | Facebook, and follow us on twitter at chris chudleigh (HARDKNOCKSRUGBY) on Twitter.
