Yesterday the Newtown Jets celebrated their 100th Birthday and it was a great event to attend where many great Newtown stories were told and many highlights relived on the big screen.
The day started in the old Neighbourhood Centre across the road from Newtown Railway Station and it was clear that the building hasn't changed one bit from 100 years before when the Newtown RLFC was formed to take part in the NSWRL Sydney Premiership.
Many great moments in history was relived and the minutes from the original 1908 was produced proving once and for all that Newtown was in fact born on 8th January, 1908 and not other dates as has been alleged by some critics.
An excellent slideshow of the great moments and names in Newtown's history was also great viewing.
