Harlequins Rugby League will be throwing open their doors in December for players to try out for their Reserves (under 21) and Junior Academy (under 18).
The club is looking for players who think they have the ability to play Rugby League Academy at a high level against sides like Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors, and who have the potential to progress to the Super League squad.
Player Performance Manager Phil Jones said: "We are looking for athletic players who possess desire and determination alongside a willingness to learn. I am not expecting the finished article, and I expect many who will trial will have little or no experience of playing rugby league. This is an avenue for young sportsmen in the capital who believe they have the potential to become professional athletes."
Last season both Harlequins Academy sides competed well, especially the Reserves, who missed the end of season playoffs by only one point.
Two players from that side, Lamont Bryan and Will Sharp, both from south London, have been promoted to the Super League squad for 2008. Another five juniors from the successful 2007 side are joining the Super League squad for pre-season training.
The Junior Academy's first training session ahead of the new season is on Monday 3rd December at 7pm, with the Reserves kicking off at 7pm on Tuesday 4th December. Both sessions will be held at the Harlequins Training Ground at Roehampton Vale.
Players will train throughout December so that coaching staff can observe them in both training and playing environments.
