Default Injury forces Oakes to quit

Oakes played 30 matches for the Falcons following his arrival at Kingston Park in 2006 from National One club Otley, scoring two tries.
The 30-year-old said: "I was totally devastated when I got the news, but the doctors said if I continued playing there was a chance the Achilles might rupture.

"At least I had my time and I can still lead a normal healthy life. I've lived the dream."

Oakes plans to return to his previous career as a gas engineer, running his own business.

The injury has forced the early recall of lock Sean Tomes from his loan spell at Doncaster.
