What a game, and what a win for Wasps.

Twice they came from behind to win the battle of the European champions from the past two seasons and kick off their defence of the Heineken Cup by seeing off a major challenger.

In a ferocious battle that swung repeatedly at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, the English side hit the Irish visitors with 11 unanswered points in the last 36 minutes to squeeze home.

But it was so very close and if the tournament continues in this vein we have a great competition to look forward to. How on earth these two giants of European rugby were even playing against each other last night is an issue that the ERC must address.
