How ironic it would be if, after a protracted struggle against relegation, Worcester Warriors were to wind up their season by sneaking into the Heineken Cup by winning the European Challenge Cup for the first time.
The possibility loomed large on Saturday afternoon when the Guinness Premiership side overcame a stern challenge from the former Heineken Cup winners Brive at Sixways Stadium, to book a place in the semi-final against Bourgoin.
