French club Perpigan are doing fine without Dan Carter, immersing themselves in a top of the table battle with defending champions Toulouse, while Tana Umaga's Toulon side continue to cling to their survival hopes.
Perpignan, who lost Carter with his ruptured Achilles tendon, edged the struggling Dax side with a late try to temporarily hold the top spot in the Top 14 championship.
But Toulouse reclaimed that when they battled their way past Stade Francais 15-11 in an ill-tempered finale to week 21 of action.
Perpignan's win over Dax certainly helped Toulon.
