The former Wasps hooker skippered his country and won a total of 98 caps before being forced to retire on the advice of his neurosurgeon last month after a series of concussions.
The 36-year-old has been earmarked as a potential Les Bleus coach by many observers, and Ibanez himself has now acknowledged a desire to stay involved with France's national team down the line.
"I don't want to be one of those guys who says they aren't interested but who, when they are offered it, would be the first to go at it," he told L'Equipe.
