Guinness Premiership Round-Up
Worcester shocked Gloucester in the Guinness Premiership on Sunday, winning 14-10 at the Sixways Stadium.
The hosts are languishing in second-last place but defied the form-book and denied the visitors the chance to go top of the ladder.
Marcel Garvey's try was crucial for the hosts and while Willie Walker spurned the conversion attempt, he did manage three penalties.
Gloucester's penalty try was converted by Carlos Spencer, who also notched a penalty. Amazingly, neither team scored in the second period.
London Irish edged Northampton 32-27 in a gripping encounter in the Madejski Stadium, with Tom Homer kicking six penalties for the home side, who led 16-15 at the interval.
Irish thus keep their title hopes alive, with Homer converting both a penalty try and another by Adam Thomstone.
The visitors realised a superb try just two minutes in. James Downey's mazy run allowed Bruce Reihana outflank the defence to score in the corner; ex-Irish ace Barry Everitt kicked the goal from the touchline.
Reihana kicked four penalties to augment another from Everitt, with Roger Wilson getting their other try.
It was also close at Adams Park, where Wasps came from behind to beat Bristol 21-19.
Bristol led 12-9 at the break thanks to tries by David Lemi and Lee Robinson, one of which Ed Barnes converted. Danny Cipriani had hit three Wasps penalties.
The hosts were the better team in the second period. Charlie Beech and Lachlin Mitchell both touched down, with Dave Walder's extras the difference between the sides.
In Sunday's other match, Harlequins and Sale were level at the break but Quins were rampant thereafter at The Stoop, winning 38-20.
Charlie Hodgson scored a try and five penalties for Sale, but his team-mates were not so formidable.
Gary Botha, Seb Stegmann, Tom Guest and De Wet Barry all scored tries for the hosts, with Chris Malone adding the conversion for three of them to compliment kicking four penalties.
