Talk to the Irish head coach one-to-one and it can be difficult getting a straight answer from him -- and for journalists, however clever, the one they might want. But that is his way and, for me, it is one of his real strengths.

Kidney, however, has that inherent ability to hold the head when so many around him are losing theirs. If -- as they say -- the way a team plays is a reflection of its head coach, then Ireland's discipline under pressure so far this season certainly bears that out.
