Giants appeal Lolesi ban
Huddersfield Giants have lodged an appeal against a two-match suspension handed out to centre Jamal Lolesi which threatens his ever-present record.
The former New Zealand international was handed the ban, along with a £300 fine, for using foul and abusive language during the Giants’ 36-34 defeat by Warrington in the opening match of the Millennium Magic event in Cardiff.
He admitted the offence when he appeared in front of the Rugby League’s disciplinary panel in Leeds today but Huddersfield are contesting the punishment.
Lolesi, who joined Huddersfield from Wests Tigers 18 months ago, has appeared in all of their 14 matches so far this season but will sit out Sunday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at Hull KR and the following week’s engage Super League game against the same opponents unless he overturns the ban.
