League leaders Clermont suffered a shock 35-28 home defeat to Castres on Friday, bringing to an end a wonderful unbeaten run which lasted 10 games.
Castres outplayed and outscored their highly fancied opponents four tries to just one. Kevin Senio, Brad Fleming, Florian Faure and Lionel Mazars all got in on the act for the visitors in one of the biggest shocks of the season so far.
The win sees Castres remain in sixth place which would be good enough to see them through to next season’s Heineken Cup.
