The Parramatta Eels have been accused of rorting the NRL's salary cap with undisclosed payments of up to $100,000 to players through secret property deals.
A report in today’s Sydney Morning Herald reveals up to six players were involved in property transactions between 2003 to 2007 which were apparently organised by the club but which bypassed the league’s salary cap.
A source told the Herald players were assured of "a guaranteed return" through the scheme. The Herald has not named the players alleged to have been involved.
