Gorden Tallis believes rugby league players should not be looked upon as role models to the wider community.

Tallis left a pack of journalists dumbfounded recently when he launched his response to news that the National Rugby League had suspended Manly star Brett Stewart for his drunken behaviour at a club function. Tallis, at the launch of this year's state-of-origin series in Melbourne, drove home his point that players were no different from any other member of society.
