Unwilling to concede the Dogs had softened in their bid to block Maitua from playing for another club next season, Greenberg said that decision remained with the NRL.
"We can't control the NRL's decision and we won't lobby them and play out any more frustration," Greenberg said.
"If another club is interested and the NRL decide to register his contract, the Bulldogs will accept that and move on and wish Reni the best of luck."
Desperate to repair the Bulldogs' poor image, Greenberg made no apologies for his decision to axe Maitua despite another week of negative headlines.
"The Bulldogs football club are determined to set standards that are reflective of a professional sporting organisation," Greenberg said.
"Repeated and consistent breaches of the club's code of conduct won't be tolerated.
"There's a long-term price to pay for short-term decisions and it takes more than just football talent to wear the blue and white jersey."
